THE NEEDLE

Bill Bona

Bill Bona is one of the original voices of The Leaderboard, dating back to 2007.

Among his many contributions to the show, Bill is best known for his solo segment, “The Needle.” What began as a weekly assault on Tiger Woods’ “troubles” in 2009 evolved into a regular segment that took on Rickie Fowler’s Sunday orange, the horrors of the plaid jacket awarded to the winner of the Heritage and “Get in the hole!” guy. Always insightful and witty, sometimes saucy, The Needle is a listener favorite.

Bill is also a well-traveled amateur golfer and has represented The Leaderboard in several PGA TOUR pro-am events, playing alongside the likes of Luke Donald, Webb Simpson and Justin Leonard, among others. He has also enjoyed casual rounds with the late Calvin Peete and major champions Rich Beem and John Daly, both of whom Bill counts as friends.

A renaissance man if ever there was one, Bill is also an accomplished surfer and a founding partner at Nona Blue Orlando and Nona Blue Ponte Vedra Beach along with Joe Davi and 2010 U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell.
